After Anantadeva reached Gokul, the next part of the divine plan began. The prison in Mathura was still dark. Yet a great light was about to appear there.
Narayana’s divine presence appeared within Vasudeva’s heart. His mind became peaceful, and his face began to glow. He felt that the Lord’s arrival was near.
The divine presence passed from Vasudeva’s heart into Devaki’s heart. Devaki felt a wonderful peace within herself. For a short time, she forgot the sorrow of the prison.
Soon, Devaki felt a new life growing within her. This was her eighth child. Hope arose in her heart, though the fear of Kansa remained.
Devaki’s eyes filled with tears whenever she remembered her six sons. She also did not understand the mystery of her seventh child. Every day, she prayed for the safety of her eighth child.
Even though Devaki was afraid, she felt a deep peace this time. She sensed that this child was coming for a great purpose. Placing her hands upon her womb, she remembered Narayana.
Vasudeva said, “Devaki, I also feel a divine peace this time.” He asked her to keep her faith. Together, they folded their hands and bowed to Narayana.
As time passed, Devaki’s face began to glow. Even the darkness of the prison could not hide her radiance. Vasudeva understood that this was no ordinary pregnancy.
One day, Kansa came to see Devaki in the prison. He stopped when he saw the glow upon her face. He thought, “Vishnu must have entered her womb.”
For a moment, Kansa thought of killing the pregnant Devaki. Then he realised that killing his pregnant sister would destroy his name, honour and life. So he decided to wait for the child’s birth.
Kansa now thought of Vishnu while eating, walking, and trying to sleep. Every sound frightened him. He felt that his end was coming near.
Gradually, every direction appeared clear and peaceful. The sky looked more beautiful than before. Nature seemed to be preparing for a blessed time.
Beautiful lotuses bloomed in the ponds. Their sweet fragrance spread everywhere. Bees hummed gently around the flowers.
A cool and fragrant breeze began to blow. The heaviness in people’s hearts slowly faded. They felt peaceful without knowing why.

The cows stood happily beside their calves. They began giving more milk than before. Even the animals of the forest appeared peaceful.
The sacred fires in the sages’ ashrams burned peacefully. The chanting of mantras sounded sweet. The sages understood that these were good signs.
The sages meditating in the forests felt great joy. They sensed that the time to protect Dharma was near. They bowed to Narayana.
In the divine realm, Brahma Ji, Shiva Ji, Narada Ji and other divine beings gathered. They knew that Narayana was within Devaki’s womb. They travelled toward Mathura to offer prayers.
The divine beings entered Devaki’s room without being seen. Even Devaki and Vasudeva could not see them. A deep peace filled the prison.
Shiva Ji bowed to Narayana with love and devotion. At the same moment, Narayana within Devaki’s womb also bowed to Shiva Ji. There was deep love and respect between them.
At the same time in Gokul, Devi Yogamaya was within Yashoda Maiya’s womb. Yashoda felt a gentle divine presence within herself. She knew nothing of the mystery.
Yashoda Maiya became calmer and happier than before. There was no fear in her heart. She felt that great joy was coming to her home.
As the time of birth drew near, Kansa’s fear grew stronger. He placed more guards outside the prison. He ordered them to inform him as soon as the child was born.
Dark clouds gathered over Gokul as the night grew deeper. Inside Nanda’s home, Yashoda Maiya rested quietly in her room, unaware that a great divine leela was about to begin.
Dark clouds covered the sky, and the night grew deeper. Devaki Ji was lying inside the prison. She was thinking about the child growing within her womb.
Midnight was drawing near. Clouds thundered outside the prison, while a gentle divine light began to spread within. The great moment was now very close: when Narayana Himself would appear.
